Ideas for Baby Gifts

What is that you see? Could it be your glowing, over emotional sister waddling up the porch steps for a visit. Well you know what that means. Time to hit Babies "R" Us again before the baby shower aka "estrogen downpour" to find those baby gifts that will soften the child rearing pains to come. You need something good this time around because the automatic milk pump you got for your co-worker last year did more harm than good. Ouch!!! Well since your already here let me give you some baby gift ideas that will assist in the healthy upbringing of a new member of society. Just be sure you kinda check with mom to see what she might actually need, and try to avoid getting what others will be getting as gifts because it is very possible to have too many bassinets. Trust me.

Doing it big: There are a handful of standard equipment that a new baby will need. You know like blanket, bonnets, and baby food. Those will make very practical baby gifts. However if you have the money and want to be a little more than modest with your baby gift try buying a high-tech stroller with special monitoring features or a luxurious crib to make the kid feel like royalty.

Clothes and Shoes: Unfortunately since this new baby is being brought into a civilized world (whatever that means) he/she will need to fit into the norms or society. That means that they can't be running around in their birthday suit. So make them feel welcomed with some stylish baby gear and accessories. Some cute blue overalls or pink dress is nice, but how about a shiny gold suit with a feather hat and some infant sized crocodile shoes. Think about it.

It wouldn't be a bad idea also to buy clothing for their later years. After all they wouldn't be infants forever plus kids these days grow so fast it's hard for a parent to keep up with pant sizes. So be a forward thinker and as a baby gift buy some outfits that they can use as toddlers and even kindergartners. They will be wearing them before you know it.

Play Things: Stuffed animals, balls, blocks, rattles,a chessboard (we have really intelligent infants nowadays) whatever makes an infants happy get it as a gift because those items will come in handy on those hot, stuffy, fatigue ridden days when the baby can't seem to be content and its mom is almost out the door.

You can also consider buying educational toys that will help in the development of the infant's mind. Pop-up books, counting games, and bilingual talking dolls are just a few ideas you may want to mull over.

Safety First, Right?: Set the child's parent's at ease with your baby gifts by buying items that will keep the baby safe and protected in this danger-filled world of ours. Buy some baby monitors so the parents will always be an earshot away from their newborn, or how about an easy to handle carseat that will keep them all buckled up on the rides back and forth from the doctor. You could also buy or compile a convenient first aid kit for those unexpected accidents that just happen at the most untimely moments.

Look into New Mom Gifts

A Sure Thing: As gifts for a baby shower be sure to buy items that will definitely be used. wash towels, burp cloths, diaper bags, feeding bottles, pacifiers and other necessities. I am quite sure you can think up some yourself.

Good Hygiene: This may be very unglamorous as a baby gift, but it will be well appreciated. Diapers and lots of them. These are must haves for every parent with a new kid around. If you want to fancy up this gift how about putting the diapers in a nice basket along with some other hygiene products like baby powder, baby wash and shampoo (in the same bottle), mouth swabs and even some Purell for the germophobic little person in every new mom.

Hand Them Down If you have some baby items stashed up in an attic somewhere that you know you won't be using anymore give it away as a baby gift to the mom who will need it. Recycling makes the world go 'round.

Never Too Early: Start some kind of savings account our college fund as a gift for the new baby so just in case they decide to aspire to 'be somebody' thanks to you they will have the funds to carry out their life goals.

GOLDEN RULE: Always have a greeting card or some kind of message accompanied with every gift. This small addition makes any gift much more valuable.
