Boss Gifts
Here are some tips that you may want to mull over before picking out the best boss gifts for 'the man'. Try to consider the type of relationship you have with your supervisor and determine how you would like to improve it. Once you have that figured out,it should be easier to choose a gift that can encourage the a healthy development of your connection with him. FYI: For the sake of simplicity the pronoun "he" will be used to refer to the boss. So if your supervisor or the person your buying the gift for is a woman the information below is still applicable.

Suck up and be noticed: To get the attention you think you deserve at work have your boss gift shine some light on his attributes. Let the gift express how you appreciate him as a boss and how good of a job you think he is doing. Not only will it give him an ego boost, but will also show your respect for him and that will definitely put you on his good side. Help him help himself: Get a gift that will help him be more efficient and organized in his duties. A trendy organizer or stylish binder would be items to consider especially if he is a little on the messy side. Upgrade: Modernize his office by buying a gift that can replace an outdated tool he may still be using. For example a new calculator or dictionary, or maybe even a phone or computer if you have a little money to burn (or a whole lot of impressing to do). Gift Card: Getting a
gift card
as a boss gift is probably the safest thing you can give. It will keep you from crossing any offensive boundaries, and give him freedom of choice. Just be sure that the store you buy the gift card from is actually a store he shops at. Leisure Activities: Buy a gift that he can use during his leisure activities. For example a new golf bag, a favorite bottle of wine, a cigar holder, a new chess board, or even another video game for his Nintendo Wii. Add to his Wardrobe: Consider having your boss gift enhance his wardrobe. A new watch or a nice tie could do no harm. However avoid getting any sized clothing like slacks or shirts because you do not want to guess his size. Stick with accessories. Edibles: Figure out what he likes to eat and get that as a boss gift. Very simple and straight to the point. If he likes M&Ms get him a whole jar of them. You can also look into getting a fruit basket if he is a little health conscious. Better yet just buy him lunch but make sure you don't break any rules while doing so. Combine Spending: To
save time,
money, and energy try to put your resources together with other people at your office to get one grand gift instead of several ordinary ones. Go for the Kids: If you can't think of anything to buy for your boss then buy something for his kids. This is a very warm and strategic gesture. You will be showing that not only do you acknowledge him as a great boss but that you like his family too. But give the gift directly to your boss to give to his kids so there won't be any mix ups along the way. GOLDEN RULE: Always have a greeting card or some kind of message accompanied with every gift. This small addition make any gift much more valuable.
